Can someone help, everytime I switch on my computer it installs driver software for the following:

High Def Audio Device
High Def Audio Controller
PCI standard PCI to PCI bridge

It finds and installs correctly but then goes through the same next time I start the machine - very frustrating. I shut the computer down correctly etc etc but it still does it - Any ideas how to stop this?

found a driver that works from realtek - but only works on the restart - shutdown and then boot again and its gone!! What could be causing this - is there anyway to force it to see the driver and not go for the windows standard?

for anyone who maybe having similar issues I diasabled the hdmi audio through the 5750 that I had in the machine and managed to get it to work. It seems that the hdmi overrides the onboard and screws it all up!

Damnit - it reverts back to the windows 7 high definition audio driver and I have to re-install the realtek one each time.

Anyone know how I can force it to go down the realtek one first?

well - update - works randomly - seems that if i switch off and leave computer unplugged then it "forgets"what I have done and goes back to the default - which doesnt work. I really need a way to remove the default drivers and direct it to the realtek ones ans standard?? Need to give this to a mate tomorrow who is a computer biff so need it to work out of the box!

A complete list of your specific hardware may help. There might be known issues with the hardware you have. Also, have you tried completely uninstalling all ATI drivers from your system and installing the latest ones?

Am running an

ASUS a8V-VM SE
4200 X2
2 GB RAM
ATI Sapphire 4750

Tried unistalling/re-installing all drivers and it seems to have a mind of its own - I think its something to do with windows 7 not recognising the HD Audio and keeps reinstalling its own driver which does not work, works when I install the realtek driver but doesnt work after a cold boot.

its the only solution when I have to work in the morning and need to give this machine to a mate who wont be able to finish it off! I hate the idea of going back to Vista but cant think of anything else to solve it!

I have searched the www and it seems this is a known issue with no resolution - there maybe some way forward with yet another full re-install, but of windows 7 X64. I cannot believe that no-one else is having this issue with another asus board - if so then it must be something I am doing?

Will give it another go (guess mate wont get his computer today!)
