I am currently using a win 7 ultimate machine which is using a key I got through my technet subscription.

I am building a new machine and my subscription has lapsed and they have tightened the rules on the number of keys you get for each OS.

Now, can I build my new PC, put the disk in and use the same key? Do I need to inform Msoft or something?

Thanks

You should be able to use the same key, I've used the same key plenty of times, not sure what the Max uses is but I assume its quite high!

I also have a pretty large MSDN sub, and have used my Win7 Enterprise key around 5 times so far (same machine, just formatting for new components etc).

it may not auto reg it while online, but if it doesn't a auto phone call will do, done it loads of times.

max is 10 times with a retail key, less for oem, once it's been done, you will no longer be able to do it online, but will still work with a phone call, but not for ever, too many and key will be blocked.
