Ok some of you may have read my thread about the super slow logon issues with windows 7. I resovled this by delteing my profile and creating a new one, coping over my files first.

Ok so i’m happy and then i start to readd my custom settings, testing the logging off and logging on each time to see what caused the issue. I was ready to blame firefox or an addon, but it turned out to be when i click the theames..
.
Can you try... right click the desktop and goto 'perzonilse' then the bottom left 'desktop background' and choose ‘solid colour’ i selected black and there we have it, will then take me 20 seconds to logon, change it back and its fine.... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

i spent hours trying to resolve the issue prior to deleting my profile!

this is crazy! you would think it would be quicker to load a solid colour, i'm really ****ed off about this as i spent soooo long trying to sort it! - just tried with my laptop and i get the same problem grrrrrrrr

it's a strange one, not an issue, i'm using the full release (gold partner at work) and it does it on both the pc's i have put it on, also doing it to other users on here, strange!

Well this explains a lot... haha, when i first setup windows 7, i set my background to solid black, and i too had slow logons, tried disabling startup items etc to no avail... then i set a background pic and login was instant :)

Never occured to me that the background colour would have anything to do with it... nice spot Jimlad ;)

no worries mate, i ended up deleting 3 profiles! i was like a dog with a bone trying to resolve it, i swore it was firefox or an add on... but after logging on and off every time i made a minor change on my system until i found the bugger! - the strange thing is you would think the solid colour would be quicker

So you went from an excellent OS back to a really crap one (by comparison).

i do think win7 is better, but there is bound to be teething bugs, and Vista with sp1 one on was my most stable os to date believe it of not

which version were you running?

if you have a Xonar, it's due to bad drivers

Bledd is it doing the solid thing with you mate?

i was at microsoft in Reading today for win7 seminar, i got one of the head UK techy guys to test on his laptop and it did it :D
