Ok so the issue.

Having installed Windows 7 now a few times due to it looking like it not working properly I am fed up. And tempted to call in a PC chapie to fix whatever the hell is wrong with it.

The Taskbar for instance won't show the little speaker and networking icons at the bottom.

The time is wrong and doesn't want to change easily.

Windows won't update itself due to errors.

Skype isn't working properly.

I can't access multiplayer on Forged Alliance Forever, have not tried any other games yet but will do soon.

My internet keeps reporting sites like Google as being dangerous etc, this is using the inbuilt protection I believe.

Can anyone help me? I keep re-installing it but it doesn't seem to work. It all works fine for a few days then suddenly everything is out of sync

Could it be some extra software you keep putting back on that is causing these issues?

Have you tried putting on the bare essentials first and run those for a few days. Adding more and testing as you go?

I can try removing the other software but it is unlikely. The only extra software are drivers and hardware stuff like MSI Afterburner. The non essentials are only Chrome, Skype and Steam. Thats it.

EDIT: Windows 7 Home Premium
And currently no antivirus. I am trying to download AVG but my Windows keeps saying the site and download is insecure :/

B grade hard drive, I'd be checking it's in good working order with manufacturers tools before going any further.

It's a HDD thats already been sent back to the manufacturer's to be repaired so I would have hoped it would be in a good working condition but I am starting to doubt it.

How would I check it is in good working order?

Grab Seatools from the Seagate website and test it.

If the time/date are wrong in Windows, it can cause all sorts of hell.

Try replacing the BIOS battery.
Check the HDD for errors using the HDD manufacturers testing tools.
Update BIOS.
Format & Reinstall .

Date/Time looks like a good call.

HTTPS stuff, Windows Update etc always start messing up in these situations.

As for Networking/Sound icons, these are configurable options in the respective Properties windows.

Already replaced the BIOS battery
I will download Seatools shortly.
If that doesn't show any problems I will re-install.

One more note though if people can suggest why this might have occured.
Everything was working fine for weeks before I did two BIOS flash updates at the same time. This caused a BSOD (no wonder) so I re-installed windows and since then have been using only the latest F14 BIOS. Its been since then that those problems have occurred really.

Try flashing with the latest BIOS again.

Do it from the Qflash or whatever it's called, I don't like doing them in Windows

If you want the Volume and Network icon in your system tray, right-click your taskbar go on Properties - under 'Notification area' click 'Customise' and then a new pop-up window will appear. At the bottom of the window click the link 'Turn system icons on or off' and you will see the Volume, Network, Clock, etc and you can turn these On and Off there.. :)

I think I got it to work, managed to finally get the system time right so we will find out over the next few days. :)

Also regarding BIOS I originally did it from Q-flash.

You mention it was fine until you flashed the BIOS twice. I would reset the BIOS to defaults, clear the it with the motherboard jumper, reflash, then clear defaults in the BIOS and using the jumper method again.

After the above, change the BIOS to how you want it and reinstall Windows with your fingers crossed!
