Hi Folks,
I have several dirs that I go to frequently , anyone know how to manually pin them so I can right click on explorer to go straight there ?

Sorry , just ignore , create short cut to folder , rename to remove shortcut then drag into bottom , job done

In Windows 7 you can also right click the window in the task bar and select pin this program to the task bar :)

Or alternatively, how about creating a library with the folders in it, or adding them to Favourites in Windows explorer? I'm not in front of Win7 at the moment, but this is a handy tutorial...

No one cares :o

Hehe, joking aside, it works on all 3 Windows 7 PCs at home :)

technical failure trumps grammatical failure every time ;)

what are you doing though? i have a folder, i drag it to the taskbar and it says "pin XYZ to taskbar" but then when i close the current window and click the pin, it just opens the libraries directory

The OP is talking about adding items to the Explorer Jump List.

To add a folder to the Taskbar you have a couple of options:

1: Add folder shortcuts to the C:\Users\<username>\Links folder, then add the Links toolbar to the taskbar. Just another way of doing the Explorer Jump List really.

2: Add the folder directly to the taskbar using the Toolbars > new toolbar menu. You get a little fly-out arrow for the folder's contents, handy if you only use one thing from the folder at a time. I use one for stuff like Malwarebytes and CCleaner - better than filling my taskbar with programs I only use once a week/fortnight.

3: The last method is to create a fake .exe file by changing a .txt file's extention. You can then pin this to the taskbar. Right-click the new icon and you will see "FAKE EXE NAME" and "Unpin....etc". Right-click FAKE EXE NAME and click Properties. Change the target path to point to your desired folder. Also change the icon if you so wish. Click OK.

EDIT: I just remembered I had a link bookmarked for option 3 - with screenies! http://www.unawave.de/windows-7-tipps/folder-to-taskbar.html?lang=EN
