I recently built a media PC which is running Windows 7, Media Centre's not as responsive as I'd like it though, when clicking a button there's a noticable delay in it actually recognising it, and 1-2 seconds before the screen loads. Anyone got any ideas how I can speed it up? It's got an Athlon X2 6000+ with 2GB RAM in it atm, and I've ordered another 2GB. I've heard using a USB pen drive as a cache can help, anyone tried that?

Are you sure it is really responding slowly and just not doing its stupid impression of what they think an interface should do? Try turning off sounds and transitions and see if that makes a difference.

I use the same cpu as you hamzter, but i have 4gb of ram. Media centre seems to run ok my end. I use windows 7 64 bit.

Have you tried using Media Browser plugin for browsing your files, etc. It runs very quick on my setup.

I've found my W7 Media Centre to be a whole lot faster than the Vista Media Centre (went from x64 to x64)
