Just been looking at some memory usage stats.

I've got 8gb of ram, currently using 25% it says.

Svchost using 120k of it.

but i've looked further into it...

Under Physical memory it's saying that i have...
Total 8168
Cached 3132
Available 6207
free 3371

But Cached keeps increasing gradually... Just wondering if it's possible to clear this cache to reset it back to 0?

Can anyone explain why it keeps increasing? and why it's got over 3gb of stuff cached?

When i'm only running... Iexplore, Utorrent, and Avg pretty much.

Additional processes are dwm, explorer, lcore, wmplayer, iexplore, wmpslideshowgadget... Everything else is under 10k.

In basic terms it's a mixture of things like Superfetch and improved memory management over Vista/XP etc.

Leave as is, changing these things will not lead to any increase in performance, it could in fact lead to worse performance.

Anyway, uncached (unused) memory is wasted memory.
