I have installed the 64 bit version and I have 4gb of ram and under the task manager and system information it shows 3.2gb I thought 64 bit OS's can handle more than this.

Here is a picture of what I mean

Are you using onboard video cards? If so then the system will take away some and use it for the Video Card.

I have 8GB installed and it says 8GB Available.

Hello R4yne,

I had a similiar problem on my wife's dell Inspiron 530.

What we found that immediately solved the problem was to update the bios. There are a couple of threads lying about regarding that issue. Couple of my friends had to update their bios too in order for Windows 7 to utilise their full memory capacity.

Yea I got it fixed now. It was the memory remap that was disabled. Bios is already the latest version. Windows sees all 4gb now. Thanks for the help.

Also to one of the posters, my motherboard has onboard VGA but I use an ATi Radeon HD 4770 PCI-E
