Windows 7 Network Issues.

Have you checked the Windows 7 machine for any malware/spyware, sounds like that machine is battering the LAN.

No but I shall, I doubt very much it'll do anything though as it was working fine before, it's just with this new router that the problems have arisen.

Think I've solved the internet issues now, I've installed an ethernet card I had kicking around, network drives still don't work though but it's looking up. :P

EDIT: Nope no better really, it has to be something set up wrong in W7 but I can't work out what. :(

do all the computers use DHCP to get their IP adresses? have you set up any static addresses?

Everything is DHCP, it all used to be static on one of the old systems I used but I couldn't get that working properly either.

Very odd, have you tried using a different network cable?

Yep changed the cable for a brand new one, no luck.

I've now removed the NIC I stuck in and gone back to using the on board. When I disconnect all of the XP computers from the network and just have the W7 one connected, it's better but still unstable, pages failing to load and the connection to the internet getting dropped, and I can't map my network hard drive.

Is there any way to wipe all of the stored information for the networks on W7? It recognises this network as number 8, I've played around with so many different setups I don't really know what's going on with it, ideally I want to reset the network wizardy thing so it goes back to new, that's the next step I suppose, put everything back to stock and go from there. :P

Update, I got the network drives to work now, there were three things that were blocked in the firewall I'm using so I allowed them and now it all works. :S Worked fine before with them blocked but not on this router. That's that problem sorted now anyway.

Still got the conflicting problem when trying to use the internet. Basically the XP computers work fine, the W7 computer doesn't, and when the W7 computer is on the XP computers don't either. I'm guessing there's some kind of conflictingness going on there.

like that word conflictingness, then i thought conflict would suffice but i cant help loving the word, sorry that doesnt help your problem though:)

It sounds like it could be an IP conflict, go round and manually check that each machine and the router has a different IP address. That aside, sounds like malware otherwise...
