I was wondering why 3 of my 4 Windows 7 PC's (only 3 are turned on in below screenshot) show up in my network as "Media Devices" even though the WMP Network service is disabled on all systems.

The other PC (Butters) is not there as you can see, but it appears when WMP is open, then goes again when it's closed - which is totally bizarre and strange as it allows everyone on your network to see you are using WMP!

I don't want them to be there at all, how can I get rid of it altogether?!

Network and sharing centre - change advanced sharing settings - turn off network discovery and media streaming? not 100% that is it, but worth a look if you haven't already.

Media streaming is off, as I said the actual service is disabled.

Network discovery has to be on or you can't see it on the network at all.
