Windows 7 - nVidia to Ati switch and MediaCentre is different!

Just updated my mediaCentre from onboard nVidia 7100 to Ati 4650 1Gb.

On the nVidia if I was watching a programme and there were some black bars at top or bottom after a few seconds they were removed and all programmes would be full screen.

Now Ive gone to Ati it does not do that and stays letter boxed :(

Zoom is not the answer as it always Zooms in too far... before it just zoomed in enough to get rid of the black bars.

Is this a nVidia driver issue or is this function standard in W7 - if so how do I enable this auto zooming for my Ati card.

Vista didnt do this either.

Ive done 3 installs with W7 (7068, 7077 and RC) and all has done this auto mini zoom. Its only this last install with a HD4650 that it does not do this.

When it zooms in it first starts letter boxed then after a few seconds it zooms. After that if you change channels - all channels are zoomed.
 
If you go into the Catalyst Control Center there are scaling options in there under digital panel settings. I wonder if one of these would do what you're looking for
