Hey guys, got the rest of my parts coming for my first gaming build on Monday
so i'm just checking over things so my first build runs as smooth as can be.

I wanted to ask you guys something please, i'm going to be installing Windows 7 64-Bit OEM on one Harddrive a brand new, Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM.

As i said this is my first build and the thing i wanted to ask is, do i have to create partitions on this Harddrive ??

Thanks again guys :)

Edit: if i do have to create partitions can you recommend any guides ?

Not really. Can if you want, if just to keep your OS and media apart [makes any OS disk image smaller, if you choose to go down this route].

You can partition during the Windows 7 setup. I would give Windows at least 50GB more if you plan to install a lot of stuff. Though personally I would just leave it as one partition and get a second HDD for data.

Win7 will create a new partition automatically during the installation.
Is that what you mean?
(Also it doesn't matter whether the hardware or software is OEM) :)

Thanks guys, sorry i'm still learning lol

I was just checking to see if making partitions was the right thing to do ?
as i said this is my first build and i'm trying to avoid any mistakes.

This pc will be used for gaming 95% of the time.
This will be the only harddrive but i will gat a ssd at some point :)

So i don't have to partition the harddrive cool

After the install don't worry if you subsequently find a 100Mb "System reserved" partition on your C drive, this is created by default as part of the Win7 install.
