If I were to buy a laptop with Windows 7 32 bit installed am I able to reinstall it from my other machines 64 bit installation discs but still use the license key from the underside of the laptop?

In a nutshell does the OEM license cover both 32 bit and 64 bit?

Yep the same key can be used to install OEM x32 or x64...
The key is not machine specific but manufacturer specific. i.e all Dell Windows 7 OEM machines will have the same key.
I have found the stickers on the bottom of laptops to be useless. There is a way to grab the key from the machine.
But to make your own OEM you will need it's CERT too. This and the key have to be added to a certain folder on the disc structure to make an OEM disc. Or added to the mounted windows image using DISM. or even if a fresh install has been done with no key the proper key and CERT can be added by .cmd.

The OEM key and CERT has to match the OEM BIOS info embedded into the motherboard for a true OEM install...

Does this help any ?

What I would like to add is the key will be version specific.
i.e. The Ultimate key would not wotk on Home Premium.

ultimate key is only for Ultimate

Home Premium is only for Home Premium

Etc etc
