Hello,

I recently bought a new PC, and installed the OS from my previous PC.

I didn't think there would be any problems doing this, but it appears that OEM versions of Windows cannot be reinstalled on another PC.

I've heard that the PC will enter a "reduced functionality mode" in around 30 days.

Can anyone tell me what will happen exactly when this occurs? Mainly i'd like to know if i will still be able to use the internet, play games and use non-MS programs.

I was hoping that i could tough it out until Windows 9 arrives.

Thanks

Although you shouldn't install on another PC (think it only goes by the motherboard to be exact), if it activated fine and isn't used on the old one at the same time, it should be fine.

Microsoft are pretty clear that you can't do that with OEM versions of Windows. What isn't clear is what happens if you fail to activate Windows...

Just do the telephone activation and say its only installed on one pc ( which it is ).

They will activate it.... job done.
