Windows 7 on netbook, shall I?

im running win 7 7000 beta on one of my laptops which is a 2.8ghz celeron (first gen) with 512mb ddr1 and it runs absolutely fine. Quite quick too, quicker than xp and vista just stalls.

anyone who is thinking of installing any windows on a ssd aao, then don't, its sofa king slow you will cry blood.

its like working on a machine riddled with viruses and spyware, waiting 5 seconds for a folder to open and sluggish even on the start menu.

acer really spent the lowest they could on the ssd's

i had to reinstall linpus

I am running Windows 7 build 7137 on my Samsung NC10 and it's at least as fast as XP. In terms of productivity it's way faster because of things like the start menu search and the new taskbar. I can't imagine Vista running this well on a netbook.

I can't see how it will work when Windows 7 is released because netbooks at the moment run Windows XP ULCPC version which costs the manufacture next to nothing, only a few pounds. Windows 7 is going to cost a hell of a lot more, ramping up the costs of netbooks a huge amount.

Well I bit the bullet and have ordered up a 2 gig stick of RAM, then will just wait for Windows 7 to pop up on my VL account to download next week and I'll give it a try :)

Don't you have to install a driver for Windows to use the SSD in the correct way?
