Greetings all,

I'm at my Dad's, and he's wanting help installing his new SSD he got for a good price a few weeks ago.

He has a legitimate copy of Windows 7 already installed on his HDD, and also wants to install this on the SSD when it is installed. However he'd like to keep the W7 install on the HDD too in case there's any software or settings etc that he forgets to install, backup settings and other data. How will W7 behave when he activates W7 on the SSD, and will he still be able to run the copy of W7 on the HDD?

Thanks, and Merry Christmas :)

I believe it'll mainly come down to how long ago he installed the W7 on the HD. If it was more than 180 days ago there shouldn't be an issue, as the copy on the HD has already been authorised.

What I tend to do, is start installing all the programs already on the HD, to the SSD (making sure to move any files to the right places if needed), and slowly start deleting the programs from the copy on the HD.
