Windows 7 - One install only?

The software is retail which allows you to transfer to another machine, belongs you unistall from your previous machine.

When activating you may need to use the automatic phone system to re-activate.

OEM software is tied to the motherboard it was first installed on.

Format the HDD; stick another OS on instead?

It just means you're not allowed to run the OS on 2 machines at the same time with 1 license.
