Windows 7 only showing 2gb Ram

my pc has always been fine with the 6gb of patriot memory but now after not using it for about a month and then turning it on my cpu meter is only showing 2gb. i went in to windows index and that shows 6gb is there but only 2 usable i have tried removing all 3 sticks of ram then waiting a minute to put them in that didnt work and also tried reseting the CMOS but that didnt work either. can anyone help?

Type MSCONFIG into your run window, and check the BOOT tab, ADVANCED OPTIONS, and make sure your memory is not capped in the maximum memory tab.
