Windows 7 or 10?

Any good reason for that besides having Directx12?

Any good reason to not use Windows 10? DX12, better window management, better explorer and various other small improvements. Unless there's something you personally dislike about Windows 10 I would recommend the latest version (try it yourself don't just read other peoples experiences).

Go 10. Microsoft will force you onto it eventually (they're started automatic rollouts already) so unless you want to waste ages locking everything down just resist and move now.

It's perfectly fine - I think the only thing missing from 7 (and 8/8.1) is Media Center for live TV and recording, and there are alternatives to that anyway (including a ported version of the one in Windows 8.1).

I use 7 at work, 10 at home.

10 has a LOT of nice little touches to it that when I go into work I'm looking at third party tools to replicate. Too many to list, get it and enjoy it.

Why would you even think of getting a very old windows 7 version ....confused:

You sure you no want an even older version like windows 95 or 98..

That's not really a fair comparison and you know it. Windows 7 is still very much supported and Windows 95/98 are not and so technically is still an option.

With a brand new PC however I would go with Windows 10.

The only reason to buy 7 is if its cheaper than 10 and you can use it to take the free upgrade offer.

Building a new PC and then purposefully putting a 3 generations old OS on it would be a bit silly.

Microsoft will make Windows 7 defunct soon, they are trying to push everyone on to 10. Hence the next CPUs Intel releases won't be supported by Windows 7.
