Not sure where to post this, but recently someone gave me their laptop to repair. The problem is one of the partitions has disappeared from my computer and can no longer be accessed.

The laptop runs Windows 7, I have checked disk management and the partition isn't in the list of all partitions, but you can see that 60GB is there but has no drive letter or nothing. When you right click on the breakdown and select properties, it says the resources are out of sync and that they should be refreshed.

Anyone have any ideas on how this could have occurred? Does it mean all the data on that partition is lost?

probably not, and its good to say that the partition can be retrieved. Have a look at a program called TestDisk HERE. Awesome little program and ive used it on a lost partition and made it active again. I came across it as part of Hirens Boot CD HERE
