Windows 7 poor sound issues

Hello all, i've just built a new system and moved onto Windows 7.
However, the sound is poor to say the least. My sound card is a soundblaster audigy 2 value. Which gave me no problemxs in XP and the sound was very loud.

Now moving into W7 i'm getting rubbish sound levels and problems with the MIC working correctly. Anyone else experienced this at all? And if so, what did you do to rectify it.

I did read that some people are installing the XP pro audio drivers, although i'm not sure this will work as my XP was 32bit and i've moved onto 64 bit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as i'm getting frustrated with this terrible sound issue. If this is the shape of things to come with W7 i feel many audio peeps out there will be disappointed

Thanks

its v annoying m8, yeah he has tried them drivers, has to mess about a lot to get mic working then on next boot following day mic doesnt work again... might be an sb issue me thinks.

when it has worked it either sounds garbled or there is background noise (sounds like he is taking a shower)

I had one of those cards in an old system. Unfortunately I'm not aware of a fix. Just terrible creative drivers again, not much you can do beside replacing it.

i did mate, going to re-install, nothing worse that having to re-navigate your way around an OS again, odd thing is, i have to keep setting stuff up again to get it to work, very frustrating, if it continues, this piece of *** soundcard is getting flushed down the tiolet after i've taken a crap on it !

i think we have things sorted, wit hte help of gibbo untill the early hours, onboard sound seems ot have retained the settings, proving that the SB Audigy is pish when it comes to Window 7 and doesn't want tro retain any of the settings saved in regards sounds optoins and MIC settings.

Asus Xonar ordered :D

Good choice on the Xonar, though it does make that effort you went to seem a bit, pointless >_<
