Is there any quick fix for this? everything on the internet doesn't seem to be working

Windows is fully activated, time is right, SP1 is installed, but windows updates is stuck and wont download anything, which is stopping an installation of a safe application.

Tried ccleaner, windows update troubleshooter, the lot

Dont tell me I have to rebuild windows :(

Cool will try that

the error it was getting is

Windows update error 0x80070005(2016-06-06-T10_35_11A) (Not fixed) in troubleshooter

Will try SP1 re-install

Already tried that link you supplied, just gets stuck on seatching for updates, will let you know how the SP1 re-install goes.

Would rather not have to rebuild the box

When I deployed the two workstations, it had SP1 installed, one machine woudnt get updates, was just erroring, the other machine had CPU memory Usage seriously high but windows updates show no signs of doing anything

svchost (netsrvs) or something was hammering the memory and CPU.

Its going through the SP1 re-install now so will see how it goes :) thanks so much for assistance, just had no luck with any other fixes online

Seems to be downloading some updates now after SP1 re-install :) will see how it goes before I count my chickens

I have this on one of my machines and it is a total pain. Did you resolve it?

Nope, Windows 10 is not an option atm so I have had to stick with Windows 7, is this Windows then literally forcing people to update?

Set it off to search for updates but it literally does nothing, I dont really have hours/days to waste

Why is microsoft such a pain at times :(

Its causing an issue with other applications which needs to go on

Dont know weather to leave it running and hope that it finds updates and not stay on "searching for updates" or try something else.

Its not in the same physical location as where I am, so only have remote access

Going to cut my losses and rebuild one of them to see if it resolves.

Huge disappointment in windows at this time, as its not the first time iv had to rebuild a box because of it

I just re-built last night, worked fine, created a new acronis image with the new build,

I couldnt be bothered to faff around trying to get it working, all up to date
