I'm still running Windows XP Pro so I have no experience of Windows 7. Does the Windows 7 Pro version include a full version of the Windows Media software, or is it a cut down version?

Unlike Vista Business, W7 Pro includes everything you get with Home plus the Pro features and not in place of - so yes.

Thank you, sounds like Windows 7 Home is a pretty decent OS as well then.

Only bit of Pro that's likely worthwhile to a home user is remote desktop (handy for administering HTPCs without knackering your fancy plasma TV) and XP Mode if you have old apps you want to keep using.

If you have an active directory domain in your house, you don't count, and probably want a Technet licence anyway.
