So I reinstalled my OS due to black screen after windows splash screen but after few windows updates the problem re-occurred so just wondering if anyone has encountered this problem. If so, what's the cause of it and how to rectify this as its really annoying.

I don't have any idea what's causing it really.

Thanks

I re installed windows 7 64 bit a week ago and had no issues downloading the updates.

are you able to get in to safe mode and remove the update which is causing the issue or restore it before the updates where done?

what are you installing from, ISO file on DVD or usb stick?

Sounds like it might be display drivers being updated.

I have updated my GPU driver to the latest and Microsoft downloaded the latest intel vga software, I tried installing the one from my mobo but it says that's an older version.

Here's my mobo: gigabyte h87-hd3

Sounds like the new graphics driver is defaulting to a different output as the main monitor, when this happens the Windows login screen is displayed only on the main monitor, and any extra monitors are blanked.

Try moving the mouse around to see if it moves into the blanked monitor.

If this is the case you can try to login blindly then right click on the desktop to bring up the ATI control panel so you can re-select the main monitor. You can also try plugging your monitor into another port, or if you have an extra monitor or TV hooked up try turning them on.
