Windows 7 problem - All windows go black and have to restart/relog

Hey guys,

Recently I have been having a weird intermittent problem. Sometimes I notice chrome will seem to stop responding and then the window will turn black apart from the bar containing the window controls (minimize, maximize and close).

After that happens my first reaction is to right click the start bar and open task manager but as soon as i right click the option menu that should pop up turns black.

No matter what application i open will turn black except the window border.

The only way to fix it is to CTRL+ALT+DEL and log off and log back on.

Seems very weird and have never seen it before, any help would be great.

I'd suggest trying to update your graphics drivers. Performed any Windows Updates recently? If so it may have installed some MS graphics drivers, you need to install the latest for your graphics card (From AMD, Nvidia, Intel or whoever).

I have ran Display Driver Uninstaller to make sure its wiped completely and installed multiple versions of the nvidia driver and its still doing it.

If you look at my post history I have had problems with a game recently as well. I am starting to wonder if maybe the card is having some problems.

try scanning the os files

open command prompt as a admin then type sfc /scannow

will check the os files and try and fix any corrupt ones
