windows 7 problem, need help

So to cut a long story short my netbook locked up so i force shut it down and when i restarted it locked up and wont get any further and it does the samething every time. I did have something pop uo before all this started saying security essentials found some virus's after id been on a motorsport website, im not running MSE though so i thought it was just nothing and turned it off.

Ive started in safe mode and ran malwarebytes and combofix but nothing was found and ive ran checkdisk but its all fine, im out of ideas now i dont have any ideas on what it could be and i cant get anyfurther on as it just hangs all the time.

any ideas?

Use system restore to restore to a point in time before you went to that website

So it boots into Windows perfectly fine in safe mode but it hangs if you try to start Windows normally?

At what point in the process does it hang?

Why not try MSCONFIG then try the diagnostic startup and see if this works. If it does then you can systematically switch services back on until you find the culprit.
If the diagnostic start does not work try the selective start the uncheck everything and then set about switching things back on systematically. It may take some time (and patience) but at least you will be doing something constructive. If it is you do find the offending service / startup item you can then see if you can live without it.

I had a problem like this several years ago and I used the above method to identify that the culprit was in fact Kaspersky - still do not know why it played up, however I uninstalled it and the problem went away.

managed to get it going again, used malwarebytes in safe mode but nothing was found so i tried combofix and it went abit strange the first time due to not shutting down correctly so i tried it again and it restarted ok that time and in the end it must have sorted it out somehow as its all ok now.

it was really strange though as it would start but then almost straight away if you went to click on anything it would just lock up and nothing would respond.
