Okay, this has really got on my nerves.

I installed windows 7 ultimate on my laptop initially, which i have subsequently formatted and no longer own, i then proceeded to install it on my desktop (to my knowledge as long as it is installed on one PC this is fine?)

I have now been prompted that i have been a victim of counterfeitting as my product key has been used elsewhere, and i am given no options to activate it anywhere.

So effectively, my genuine copy of Windows is now worthless.

Is there anything i can do? I cant find any form of contact number anywhere.

do you have the option to activate it over the phone?

if so try that...

if you brought it from a "cheap" source.. learn the lesson...

if you gave the key to your mates... learn that lesson...

hope you get it working...

activate over the phone, when asked tell them its only installed on 1 computer (which it is)

It may be a new generic message.... I got a feelign I have seen it.. (and I dont have hookey 7 keys, maybe when I kept reinstalling a machine... however I may be msiotaken)

Tried to activate it over the phone, and activation failed.

It was a birthday present, but as far as i'm aware it was purchased either from OcUK or somewhere else that is reputable.

"Blocked key

Your key is a blocked MSDN key that was sold to you in violation of the terms of the original MSDN account holder. Please see the blocked keys sticky for information on what this all means and how you can remedy the situation, after reading the sticky post any further questions in this thread."

Someone replied to my thread on the microsoft forums to a report generated by some microsoft application.

Slightly dodgy.

After the attempt to activate over the phone fails I'm sure there is an option to talk to a real person. Do this and explain what you've done they will usually understand.

I had this with Vista (I think) and spoke to the operator after a phone activation failed following a hardware failure.

Andi.

Where was it bought from?

Pirates can make hologram discs with litescribe etc..

It it was bought from the bay or from a 'marketplace reseller', then it's probably just a dodgy copy
