Hi everyone, in October 2011 i purchased a OEM copy of Windows 7 for my PC and installed everything correctly without a problem. Now in April i purchased a SSD and had to do a re-install of windows. In the installation process my product key worked fine but now when everything is up and running correctly it is asking me too activate my windows with the product key and now it says the product key is invalid. Can anyone help me?

Thanks

This is fairly normal, there should be an option to activate by phone - choose this and follow the instructions and it should then activate.

i have tried to do the activation by phone and had no joy. The operative i spoke to tried her best to activate it over the phone but for some reason could not do it. She then passed me onto a colleague who then told me that i would have to get in contact with the company who supplied me with the product for them to sort out. Any ideas?
Thanks

The confusion on whether its possible to truly buy (then get support for) an OEM license without hardware at the same time continues :(
With Windows 8 coming up soon the question will arise for many. I didn't see much in the way of an official response from OCUK at the time of Win7 pre ordering about this.

What happens why the place you bought it goes **** up? And even if they don't, will they give you help outside the first year?

There is no confusion on whether you need to purchase hardware with OEM Windows. This hadn't been a requirement for 7 years.

So what happens now with the original poster's request?
[yes the issue is probably irrespective of buying with/out hardware, but that is not really what I was getting at - ie. is it safe for an end user to go OEM full stop}
