Hey guys,

Thought i'd make a new topic as these might be more likely to get answered here than in a big topic.. I'm thinking of upgrading to Windows 7 from XP SP3. I feel like it's becoming clunky and general desktop speed is starting to feel slow.

I would be getting the 64bit version and also getting another 2gb ram to make 4gb.

My specs are in my sig.. so:

1. Would there definatley be a noticeable speed increase on: desktop, applications (64 bit?) and games?

I bought vista OEM as soon as it was on OCUK when it first came out... I had an AWFUL time with it - especially with games - went back to XP and have been for 2/3 years. The main problem was compatibility so:

2. Would there be problems with drivers and general software that I use every day on XP, itunes, steam, photoshop etc?

3. I've got an X-FI soundcard... are the drivers for it any good? or will I get loss of quality and fidley software like in vista?

Finally, I've got access to the student home premium download edition:

4. Can I install it off my iPhone? I don't think i've got a normal USB flash disk.

Any help would be very much appreciated.. Cheers :)

With regards to point 4, no you won't be able to install it from your iPhone as it doesn't operate as removable storage for some completely bizarre reason.

Humm for point 1) the desktop for me is pretty similar to vista (so FASTLY different from xp) and thats just something you more jsut have to get used to opposed to guage and real benifits one way or another

For 2) All those applications have been ironed out for vista well over a year ago now and as 7 is very similar too it (appart from the task bar and a few other things) generally games and other software compatability shouldnt be a problem. (as all teh examples worked fine in vista for me)
