I downloaded win 7 yesterday and burned the ISO to a disc.

Re-booted and it said windows loading files, then after that it just freezes at windows starting screen. I was trying to install 64 bit so downloaded 32 bit instead, burned that to a different disk, same thing again.

I really have no idea at all what the problem could be, im lost as to why it just freezes. I've tried unplugging everything, that didnt work.

thanks for the help.

Infact, in cant be the disc, because yesterday after spending hours trying to get it to work. I tried to install it through XP, i knew this wouldnt work and i would need to re-install but anyway it said it needed to re boot and it re booted with out the disc and went to that exact same screen and froze again at the same place. SO it rules out the disc problem. i also tried safemode but it cant complete setup through safe mode.

I don't see how trying to install it through XP would rule out the disc being dodgy if it was the same disc?!

If the disc is dogy then the disc is dodgy regardless of you install it from XP or from a clean install.

I burned several Win7 discs off, none of them worked. I got different media and it worked fine. I have several coasters you can have, maybe they may work for you! :)

because I ran the setup through XP, without the disc.

no,i knew that, i just wanted to see if it was the disc.

I had to reinstall XP, but i had only just installed XP so it was no bother.

Anyway, I'm lost for options, i wanted a new PC and wanted to test win 7 to make sure it worked so i could get i7 core 6GB memory etc. I currently have WIn XP 32bit which wont work with all that .

winrar to a discrete folder to open it in windows.

Anyway thats not the point, it didnt work with the disc or without it. Both did the exact same thing, so im left guessing what could be the issue.
