I'm going to be building a new i7 rig soon with an G.Skill SSD.
Will apps such as Photoshop, Lightroom and Adobe Premiere work with the 64bit version or should I get the x86 instead?

Cheers :)

Thanks spitzoid, without having to read through the insane number of pages of the Windows 7 thread, is it a stable enough OS to run on a primary machine until they release the full version?

I have been using version RC 7100 since a day or so after release and I have not had any issues with stability.

There are small, tiny infact, issues that user report - e.g. when I (not everyone suffers this) right click on the desktop the is a 2 sec delay before showing the menu (all other right click menus are instant). But in terms of Application compatibilty (64bit or otherwise) it is pretty good.

Sweet, I'm downloading as we speak! Thanks for your prompt replies :)
Don't suppose you know anything about SSDs do you?!

Basically how do I go about getting my OS on to the SSD (a G.Skill 120gb).

I've read about upgrades to the firmware etc, could you talk me through the process of making sure everything is up to date before I install the OS - and if installing the OS is any diferent to a normal HDD then what differences are there?

not sure about the others but when you install lightroom its see`s you have 64bit OS and installs the 64 bit version of lightroom
so i`d say go for the 64bit OS

Cool stuff, 64bit it is :)
Once I get the SSD question answered I'll get it ordered *excited!*

I'm sorry, I cannot answer that. I would have thought that it would have installed straight out of the box. If you have heard different then I suggest creating a specific thread for the HDD section.

Sorry I can't help.

64Bit [/Thread]

Only incredibly old software will not work on a 64bit O/S. In which case you can just use a virtual pc anyway.

Sweet - thanks Meatball.

NP :). Don't pay any attention to 64Bit scary mongers on the net, think of it as 32bit W7 with the added 64Bit capability. If you're using an i7 processor I assume you'll be using between 4GB-8Gb of ram and a decent graphics card? In which case you'll need a 64Bit O/S to take advantage of all your RAM! You'll be bottlenecking your system running 32Bit.

I've been using Vista 64Bit since release date and it's never skipped a heart beat, never had any software problems either :).
