Hi

anyone know if you can go from Windows 7 RC to Windows 7 Retail via an upgrade instead of a clean install and hence preserving your installed programs and config ?

Nope. there is no upgrade path for Europe due to Internet explorer.
What ever you are coming from you will have to do a fresh install. Or at least that is how I understand it.

The short answer: No, there is no upgrade path.

The long answer: The Windows E situation is a moot point in this case. There is no upgrade path from beta or RC to full release, under any circumstances. There never has been one and never will be. It's part of the price you pay for using the RC in a 'production' environment (which is something you're not technically supposed to do, even though lots of people have).

Come to think of it I`m sure someone will come up with an upgrade workaround like they did with the full install only version of vista.

Quite possibly, though that was from the RTM build. Not sure the same thing would work for the RC, and I certainly wouldn't want to take the risk anyway - you could open yourself up to all sorts of stability issues and/or security issues, particularly when SP1 gets released.

Doesn't bother me anyway - I flat out refuse to do OS upgrades.
