On 2 installations of Windows 7 I have received the message that this version of Windows pre-release has expired, and asks me to install a final copy of the OS. These are POST RC1 and RC1 builds. I understand that there are a generic set of product keys for Windows 7. Is anyone else having this problem?

Thanks

Michael.

I get a message in the corner of the desktop saying "this copy of windows is not genuine."

When press start, right-click my computer and press properties, the message disappears and it says windows is activated.

Fixed - Flaming BIOS thought it was 2010.

I had the same thing a couple of months ago. When I put the pc into sleep mode, it reset then after it booted came up saying it had expired. After a whil the penny dropped and when it had reset my pc it had also messed with bios. Date was set to 2010.

Yeah, be careful of setting the wrong date, as it may prematurely deactivate your Windows 7 RC and Pre-RTM builds. The deactivation date is June 1st of 2010, and the two hour reboot cycles start on March 1st of 2010. Odd though kidloco, as going into sleep mode shouldn't mess with the BIOS stored year/date. You might try seeing if you replicate the issue and then post info to the official Windows 7 RC Support Forum. I'm sure they would be interested in finding a weird bug like that if it should exist.
