Anyone out there with Win7 RC1 64bit? Are you having problems with your power schemes?

When I first installed Win7 I noticed that my hard disks would occasionally spin down and then spin up again when they were accessed. Whilst this was kinda cool I decided I was too lazy to wait the extra seconds needed to spin up so I changed my power schemes to High Performance to make sure they didnt spin down.

Then I formatted the previous Win7 build and installed this latest incarnation of Win7 and since then my Power Schemes dont seem to work properly. I changed the active scheme to High Performance but I still notice the disks spinning down. I checked the settings and its set to never spin them down :/ I even created my own custom plan and that also spins them down regardless of my settings.

Anyone else have problems with theirs? Its a bit annoying because ive got 5-6 hard drives and they all occasionally spin down and cause annoying pauses!

Well since nobody commented I decided to give build 7201 a go instead :E

Wish me luck! Seems alright so far

Nope :/ Build 7201 also spins down disks! :(

Im guessing by the lack of any replies at all that people either havent noticed this or just dont mind? :P

Looks like he already checked that. Only suggestion here is to cannabilise an external drive caddy and use the power adaptor to provide power to the HDD separate from the HDD, but that would be a very ugly solution with an extra power lead coming out the back of the PC. And I don't even know if that would work, depending on how the OS turns off drives..

check in the bios too, some bios's have an option to spin down idle drives

personally I just set mine to spin down asap
