Windows 7 retail upgrade.

If I purchase Windows 7 Retail upgrade to go over XP Win laptop, does that mean, If I want to uninstall to put on another laptop later, would I still need a version of windows on it, or can I put it on straight away without it?

The upgrade will assume the license conditions of the OS you are upgrading from. That means if you upgrade an OEM copy of XP then your Win 7 OS is subject to the license conditions of OEM software and you cannot legally move it to another PC.
