I've noticed my PC has been trying to install this update on a regular basis for quite a while now, and it fails every single time. It even does it sometimes when I try to shut my PC down, which just delays how long it takes for the PC to power down.

What the heck can I do to get this update to actually install? I just found out I cant even install Internet Explorer 11 because I'm missing this update.

I remember my brother having an Acer PC like that. Read somewhere that updating drivers helped but didn't for him. In the end when he moved to a Mac he asked me to reformat it, and after that it managed to install every update.

Yikes!

If you can't get it to install, then just download a dvd with sp1 in it already and reinstall windows using that

IIRC there used to be a hotfix or something for that which you could download from windows update first individually then do the SP1 update.

Basically, you're better off downloading a W7 ISO with SP1 preinstalled and reinstalling.

Before I get flamed, this is completely legal, the OP just needs their serial number.
