Why does my windows 7 become nearly unusable under heAvy copying like above 10 gb and lots of files eg. Photos from one drive to another. It taken firefox over 3 minutes to load and then crash. Same with chrome or safari. So bad that I'm having to use the ipad to To type this while its copying. Both fast sat 3 samsung drives. 6gb ram and a clocked i7 it shouldn't be happening. Install only 3 week old. All drivers etc. Any ideas what it could be?

copying from the boot drive? If so, it's not surprising the performance drops right down, you are raping the hard drive.

I would perhaps start by generating a system health report and have a good look at it. From a command prompt type perfmon /report and press enter.

Yeh copying 10GB and lots of files from the boot drive but come on im not running a 486 here it cant even load firefox after 3 minutes. And it was only copying at 13.2mbps. Xp handled it fine. Possibly something to do with the amount of files maybe?

Done the health report not showing anything dodgy i dont think but there is allot of stuff in the report.

Maybe im expecting to much :D ?

Its got nothing to do with the power of your computer, you are expecting to be able to read and write to the same drive at the same time as copying 10gb worth of files, its only sata and its only a single disk at that so I wouldn't expect much more than you currently get.

The fact that Firefox takes ages to open is a little weird though I'll grant you that, it does seem excessively slow, are you running the proper chipset drivers?

in device manager, under the properties of the hard drive, on the policy tab, enable the caching feature where it says 'dont do this unless you have a battery backup'

that might help
