I can't update my Win7 to SP1 and I'm pretty sure I know why I just don't know how to fix it.

I messed around with the driverstore when I was struggling to get a 9800GX2 working properly so I deleted a bunch of the NV stuff. The error code I get from windows suggests its something to do with that (says something about not finding the right path).

Is there a way to sort this using the install dvd? I've tried the MS PC fix tol and the upgrade readyness thingy.. nothing.

Bit frustrating and I'd rather not have to start from scratch, I could just ignore the issue but I'm just chaging mobos and HDDs so if I'm going to reinstall now would be the time although I'd much rather not bother and just clone the HDD once its sorted.

I had a problem once with very similar symptoms, mine turned out to be that i'd changed the windows temp location and misspelled the folder name. Everything up to SP1 worked fine, its just SP1 would not install, with a similar error message.

Have you tried sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt? Though I'm not sure it will bring back delete drivers, even if they are ones that Windows 7 comes with.

You could try to download the actual .exe for the installation for SP1. That sorted out a problem I was having.

lol, there's about 3 words in that post I understand!

Sorry, find command prompt in your start menu, use the search if you don't know where that is, right click on the shortcut and run as administrator, then type sfc /scannow and wait for it to finish, then try and install the service pack again.
