Evening,

I've been having a strange issue lately when trying to launch programs straight after the desktop has loaded. Usually as soon as the desktop shows I can click on a program and it will load instantly.

However over the last few weeks there seems to be about a 20 second pause before any any program launches. Its not program specific and seems to happen with everything I have tried.
Windows items such as Recycle Bin, Computer etc still load instantly. Not a big issue but I would like to fix it if I can.

I have not installed any new programs lately and there are only essential programs launching on startup.

Specs are

Windows 7 64 bit
128gb SSD
i5 2500k
ASROCK Z68 Pro3

Any ideas would be much appreciated :)

Next time it happens check the event viewer to see what the PC is up to when it's doing this delay. It could be a lot of things to be honest.

If it was a mechanical drive I'd tell you to look for event ID 7 and similar which usually indicates a bad sector but with an SSD I doubt there's an equivalent, in my experience when they go it's instant.

Chances are it's AV or something updating in the background which has to be closed before the game launches.

Thanks for the reply :)

I ran event viewer on startup and found that an origin updater was trying to launch on startup but kept timing out. Uninstalled Origin and all back to normal.

Thanks for the help :)
