Windows 7 startup repair can't fix the problem, but...

when I click finish and it restarts, it goes straight into windows?

I'd have thought if it's failed to do a repair then just by restarting isn't going to fix the problem??

maybe there was no issue in the first place.... if you crash windows during boot some times it will do the repair on next boot automatically...

Oh I see, yer thinking about it my mums partner did say that he had to turn the pc off by the button for some reason then on the next restart the startup repair came up.
I did get a choice of doing a system restore as that came up during the repair but I cancelled out of that.
But in windows now and all seems fine.

Startup repair will generally come up if you didn't shut it down properly. This doesn't mean that anything is wrong with the pc though.

Great, thanks. He turned it off when the 'welcome to windows' screen came up before loading the desktop. It was taking longer than normal so he switched it off then back on.
I've told him not to do that again...
