Currently got Windows 7 Ultimate installed and when i first switch my system on, it can take up to 3 minutes before windows will connect to the web and then apps which need an internet connection to load up, any ideas?

My system is wired to the router, i have updated all the drivers for my board, Gigabit port and windows update.

My router is running the latest firmware too.

I only have Avast, Discord and steam set to boot up from when windows starts but disabling this doesn't change anything.

Any help appreciated.

is it taking this time to connect to the LAN ?
run taskmananger as soon as you get into windows go to network tab and see if it shows connected

I and another poster have had this problem - mine also got to the windows welcome screen then went black for 3 min then windows opened - His was Bitdefender and mine was Avast free - uninstalled Avast - reinstalled and it's fine now.

Opps may have misread your post - ignore me if I have

can you ping your router and 8.8.8.8 while the internet is not working?

if so check your DNS server has not been changed, remove any av / firewall software do a malware bytes scan

Only thing I can think of is open up msconfig and untick everything in the startup section and see if that helps. There are probably loads of apps initialising in the background at startup and take priority over the network services.

If you do unstick everything you may want to retick[sic] certain services such as AV afterwards.

This is what it shows as soon as i start up.

On the odd occasion i get a black screen, maybe 1 in 20, I'll try removing Avast and see if it helps. :)

I can only open Windows Task manager when it first boots up, everything else lags behind, if i click Chrome or steam for example, nothing loads until windows identifies my network.

You have 3 network cards ?
looks like it is connecting to your router ok at start-up
It is weird that you cannot use the web until much later, disable avast, reboot see what happens ?

also autoruns is good for seeing what is loading when windows starts
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns
I don’t have 3 network cards, one must be my NAS and the other must be my dads System which is also connected to the NAS.

No, it's not. Those are network adapters on your PC, nothing to do with any other devices. Can you go into the network adapter page and see what it says there? Alternatively, the network part of Device Manager which will also list all the network adapters.

my best guess is either the router itself or something like a AV or other piece of software is messing with your connectivity
I would not rule out a problem with networking in windows itself

Has it been doing this from the start or is this issue a new thing ?

This issue is brand new, I moved from an x99 system to an 8700k and z370 board with the new killer control Ethernet and it’s been doing it ever since.

Router is fine, my dad doesn’t have any issues at all, as soon as windows starts, he’s connected to the network in a few seconds, like mine used to be.

Maybe I’ll uninstall the ethernet drivers and see if that helps.

This is something I've encountered on some Windows XP machines. The culprit turned out to be some Microsoft .NET service automatically starting. No internet could be accessed at all until a few minutes after logging into Windows - it was as though Windows hung, but you could still move the cursor around. The service was disabled with no problems.
