Windows 7 taking ages to install

Hi,

Trying to reinstall windows 7 as it wasn't booting up.

Its taken about 12 hours now, and seems stuck on the 'installing updates' part.

Does it sound like my hard drive is bricked?

Use an Ubuntu live CD.
