Windows 7 taskbar problems

Has anyone else had the problem when you click on a taskbar item that is already open that is not the active window and it brings up the jump menu instead of changing applications. From what i can tell the jump menu is only meant to come up with a right click. But this happens sometimes then i have to click on the application like three times to bring it to be the active window, which usually means minimizing the application the maximising it.

Also is there a way of disabling the useless taskbar preview without disabling the whole aero addon?

I tried all the ways that google says you can disable the taskbar preview with the registry but none of them work. Has anyone managed to disable taskbar preview?

i'm sure you can disable the preview from the taskbar options window. Mine is disabled for some reason - i didn't do it manuallly but it does pop up with the window text rather than the window preview.
