windows 7, time keeps getting unsynced

As title, the time keeps going out of sync every few hours, it will go back 30 mins or so and its seriously annoying. i have to manually update the time to get it back right and it does it whether i have it to automatically sync up with servers or not...

what the hell is up with it? i started noticing one day when i was having a few crashes and was having to switch off my comp without shutting down, turned it back on and it went all the way back to the year 2001 . ever since then the time has been going nuts..?

hmm well i checked the time earlier today in the bios and the time was indeed wrong so ive changed it... been out of the house most of the day and it currently reads 19:10 , so its magically gone back 3 hours :/

whats happens if i take the battery out and replace it, will i lose my bios settings or anything like that?

changing the motherboard battery seems to have fixed this, cheers guys
