Is anybody able to tell me if the Windows 7 trial is still going on and if so where I can download the software?

Looks like I'm going to need a new version of Windows for a motherboard upgrade tomorrow. I was hoping to use my existing copy of Vista but it turns out it's an OEM version.

I've read about a 30 day trial period which would be great as it would give me time to find a good deal on the software but still allow me to install the software tomorrow. When I go to the Microsoft page it just gives me the option to buy it.

Any ideas if the trial is still active?

I've thought of that but the main reason for the upgrade is for gaming and the word is that Steam and Windows 8 are not friends at present.

If you download the iso from digital life forums, you can install it without a key and it will run for 30 days before needing one

Not sure if its still the case but when I last tried the trial you couldn't go straight from trial install to retail install by converting the current install you had to reinstall - might be changed now tho.

Thanks for the replies. I've got my trial disc burned and ready to go. May give Windows 8 a try while I'm at it. Has anybody tried the Windows 8 RC with Steam?

I didnt want to start a new thread.............

Is the Digital River site the place to get proper copies of Windows 7 from ??

Reason why Im asking is that someone at work has damaged his windows 7 disc and I said I knew of a place he could download it from.

Cheers chappies :)
