Hi all,

I've got a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate I don't need, genuine with box and license key etc. and just had a gander on the bay to see how much it's selling for - quite surprised to see the prices it's going for, but these are copies that are being sold in America or internationally...

The cheapest price is £146 and then there are some selling for £400+ with 30 sold etc.

What's that about?

Supply and demand presumably. Official reseller stock dried up long ago, so the price is now proportional to how desperately someone needs a copy. Businesses with critical software that only works on 7? Could support some pretty high prices.

Thanks, explains it.

We had the same issue when we went to order 2 new laptops with Dell, they actually wanted real life money to "downgrade" to Windows 7. We ended up not paying but its all because for some reason our plotter printer hates Windows 10.

Just been offered £60 for it, I don't know whether I should be biting his hand off...

As of about November last year OEM keys were no longer supplied by Microsoft so any W7 licences are essentially old stock now. We've picked up a couple of new machines since then but the price has noticably increased and choice significantly decreased.
