So i decided to download the DiRT2 demo from one of the links on the codemasters site so i could see how well it runs on my computer but i was getting an error about admin privileges when trying to install even though my user account was setup as an admin and i've never had this problem before.

Anyway i went into control panel and enabled the proper administrator account then logged in as that but it didn't work and it seems that i can't install any programs as most are asking to be installed as an administrator even though i am doing that and/or selecting run as administrator.

Has anyone had this problem before and if so how was it solved? I am doing an Avast virus scan of my c: drive then will do an scan of e: in case i got a viris i don't know about during the last day.

Go to User Accounts and Family settings in Control panel and select User Accounts, select Change User Account Control settings and reduce that to minimum. Try Dirt 2 again.

Andi.

Already have UAC set to minimum as that's the first thing i do after windows 7 gets installed.

It seems the problem is affecting other programs as well which got me suspicious to there being something bigger wrong than a simple UAC or whatever setting.

What do you mean by enabled the "proper" administrator account? You mean you enabled the default account? It shouldn't matter which you were using. What does the error message say exactly?

By the proper account i mean the default account called Administrator that was disabled.
I know its probably just the same as my own user account that is set to administrator but i thought i should at least try it.

The message say i don't have OS privileges to install Dirt2 and that i need to log on as an administrator although some programs just tell me to log on as an administrator.

*EDIT* i got rid of the viruses Avast found and restarted but the problem is still there so i'm running Malwarebytes in case that finds anything and we'll see what happens.

Strange, although if malware is part of the equation then you could end up chasing your own tale with the admin problem. Tackle the viruses first. :)
