Hi,

I have recent install of windows 7 with no antivirus running ect. It boots up nice and quick but after being on the desktop for about 10 seconds everything grinds to a halt. Anything I do takes about 20 - 30 seconds, this includes the start buttion, task manager ect and even then it's painfully slow.
Any desktop icons like games ect do not start. I do not have any disk thrashing at all.

I cannot do anything and have to try to shutdown but it just hanges on the shutdown screen and doesn't do anything. I am then forced to hard reset and when it boots back up everything is fine with no problems at all.

It seems to be on the initial boot only. I have no programs installed at all except retail games.

Geforce 580
WIN 7 64 Home

Anyone have any ideas??

You'd assume so, event log is your best bet I'd imagine, then go from there.

You can also use perfmon to find out what is raping your system prior to reboot.
