Windows 7 Update Broken

Whenever I try to update Windows for the last week or so it says 'downloading updates' but it always stays on 0% complete and never progresses. My connection is fine in everything else.

In fact, ever since I did not move to Windows 10, 7 has been acting strangely, there were no updates for months and then suddenly lots of updates after the W10 deadline and since then several anomalies. W7 was always previously reliable :confused:

. Now Windows Update seems to be completely stalled.

Fair few threads on it - its been broken since Windows 10 started rolling out properly for most people - there are various potential fixes and times it has and hasn't worked :S

Good old MS. I too had this issue and investigated it over the weekend as I have just recently returned to Win7 from dreaded Win10.

It seems when I reinstalled Win7, and applied 'all' the updates using wsusoffline, I only applied half of them. I re-ran the tool, obtained the updates, applied them and had to do numerous reboots during the application of all the updates and finally after 270 updates I am fully updated and Windows update actually finds stuff now and isn't broken.
