windows 7 update stuck on 0% after restart

we get this kind of thing at work sometimes. Normally find its just one update which is being a pain and taken ages.

Sometimes you can fix it by deleting the SoftwareDistribution folder in the windows dir.. that hold the update bits and pieces so it download everything fresh just in case any of the update a screwed up

had this issue when i installed my 560ti and i was actually thinking it was a driver Windows was wanting to put on at first!

Fix for me was :

boot into Safe Mode with Networking
Restart

Job Done.

Happen to my PC and my Laptop, and just had my Dad come into me saying his Laptop also won't update. Told him to leave it go for 10 mins and it would sort itself out.

strange, this has not been posted on here earlier actually. I could have probably saved a lot of people time if i posted a thread about this days ago. :)

Have you guys checked and made sure the update didn't just fail? When I had windows fix the update software it only took 2 mins to install. The 15 mins was just waiting for windows to give up for me.

I was rather pleased but shocked that running the windows update troubleshooter fixed it.

I had this yesterday, tonight I turned on my pc and it stalled at the update screen so I got bored of waiting, pressed the reset button and on the second attempted it installed fine.

Must be a common issue because I've been installing the same updates for the last few days which fail to install each time and have excacly the same boot problems as above.

I have 4 updates:
KB2492386
KB2515325
KB25222422
KB982018

This is for the first time ever I have problems installing updates on home pc.

EDIT:
As other have said install manually:
Install KB2492386, KB2515325 & KB2522422 only, follow all prompts.
Then install KB982018 separately. Worked great for me.
